behind spectrum pulse…

Beginning as a music critic near the beginning of the 2010s before starting Spectrum Pulse in 2012 (and his YouTube channel in 2013), Mark Grondin has painstakingly built his presence to be one of the foremost music critics and analysts on the platform over the past several years.

With comfortably over a thousand albums reviewed spanning every genre of music, his long-running weekly series Billboard BREAKDOWN examining the charts entering its sixth year (now on its own channel), plus side projects spanning year-end lists, his genre exploration in the Resonators series, and his published fiction novels (To Kill A Dragon, 2015), he is known for his incisive deep dives and analysis spanning music, movies, art and culture.

He has worked alongside and collaborated with The Needle Drop and Dead End Hip Hop, as well as serving as a founding member of the Rock Coliseum team alongside ARTV, Rocked Reviews and Crash Thompson. He’s also been mentioned by Billboard as part of “new generation of YouTube critics whodisregard traditional print routes”.

A hopepunk at heart with his trusty Voltorb by his side (he handles all the subtitles), Spectrum Pulse is planning for major changes and evolution in the decade ahead while keeping his love for great tunes, brilliant writing, and the art that moves a culture at the forefront – and he only hopes you’ll join him on this adventure.
